Private Residence Pebble Beach, CA
Granite Rock. One of the highlights of this residence is the granite rock fireplace, specifically designed to accommodate the entertainment purposes of the owner’s game room. While its most striking feature is the inset flat screen television, also notice the one-eighth inch grout joints, the arch and keystone, and the hand carved corbels supporting the above mantelpiece.
As part of an outdoor kitchen, this residence includes a second granite rock fireplace with one-eighth inch grout joints, this time using a multicolor granite variety.
Shadowbrook Restaurant Capitola, CA
Green Serpentine. Over a period of six years, Garcia Masonry completed many of Shadowbrook's latest renovation projects, including hillside terracing, walkways, and the Rock Room bar & lounge. We were successfully able to overcome several challenges presented by this long-term project, such as the steep work site, difficult access, and the restaurant remaining open for business during renovations. The staircase, bench, and fireplace are all constructed with steel and solid green serpentine rock.
Private Residence Watsonville, CA
Blue Stone, Hillsborough Rock.This country residence includes a wine cellar entrance constructed with Hillsborough rock, featuring hidden grout for a dry stack wall appearance. The garden entrance also features Hillsbrough rock for the risers, with blue stone for the treads.
The extensive porch features irregular blue flagstone with consistent one-half inch grout joints. A second special feature is the use of Schluter-DITRA, a waterproofing membrane installed at the underside of the natural stone to accommodate moisture and prevent cracks from pressure.
Private Residence Aptos, CA
Mariposa Flagstone, Green Serpentine Rock. This residence features an outdoor kitchen. The floor is made with mariposa flagstone, the fireplace is green serpentine rock, and the countertops are green natural slate.
This pond is surrounded by Tehama and green serpentine rock, bordered on the left by a mariposa flagstone patio, and divided by a Tehama walkway.
Private Residence Aptos, CA
Entrance and Pool Deck. Carried out from the first design to the final detail, this residential entrance features Mariah ledger, Honey ledger, and Arizona capstone in a combination of form and function which integrates the driveway, retaining walls, and stairway. The walkways and pool deck feature Buckskin Arizona flagstone with Napa Valley cast stone coping.
Private Residence Pebble Beach, CA
Wainscoting and Patios. This outdoor patio made from Santa Maria flagstone surrounds a residence with Osage rock wainscoting and hand-chiseled caps. While originally designed for a stucco exterior, the architectural decision to upgrade to an exterior of stone wainscoting has greatly increased the aesthetic appeal and value of this residence.
Buffalo Run Ranch Colinga, CA
Residence and Surroundings. This long-term project includes a wide variety of masonry styles and stone types, with the prominent features resulting from a dynamic relationship between the owner’s vision of form and function and our crew’s ability to select appropriate stone and produce creative and artistic interpretations of these visions.
The kitchen island combines river rock with a Tehama river rock footrest, while the round rock base contrasts sharply with a sleek granite countertop. Steps leading up to the main entrance of the authentic log home feature tumbled Blue stone treads which are supported with San Francisco river rock.
Beach Residence Aptos, CA
Dry Stack Shenandoah. The contemporary style of this beachfront residence requires an extremely tight and expertly fitted Shenandoah ledger stone. Concrete waterproofing and stainless steel building components enhance the structural durability.
Carmel Cutting Horses Ranch Carmel Valley, CA
Horse Barn and Guest House. This horse barn uses centennial fieldstone for the walls, and custom fabricated frontier stone for the lintel, headers, windowsills, and wall caps. The irregular stone size and spacing reflects a 19th century farmhouse style. The nearby guest house also uses irregular centennial fieldstone, but the tighter construction reflects more of a rustic ranch architectural style.
